I have a 4x4 mattebox-bellows/rail system on order, and have found a personal source for used 3x3 filters for a really good price. I was wondering if there exists such a holder that will allow you to put a 3x3 filter in a 4x4 frame, thus allowing it to go in a 4x4 mattebox, and center the 3x3 in front of the lens. It's a Cavision bellows mattebox I am trying to do this in, should anyone be curious.

Anyone know of such a thing? and where to get a few?

Thanks

Chrosziel and Vocas/Century filter trays come in a 3x3 holder maed to fit a 4x4 slot. I'd be interested in finding out if these fit the cavision.

I checked out the three companies you listed.. the only evidence I could find of one was I think with Century.

is that it on the far right? The thicker frame?

Chrosziel and Vocas didn't seem to mention any such thing on their websites, or PDF catalogs.

So can you use a 3x3 filter on a 72mm stock Canon 16x auto lens? Or will you see the edge of the filter? 3x3 is a few millimeters bigger than 72 I think... maybe you could only use one at a time and not stack em. hmmm...

3"= 76.2 mm

Vocas make the century DV matte Box and the 3x3 frame is available from either

The Chrosziel frames are on page 21

I'd bet on the Chrosziel fitting , the Vocas is a tad oversized by the looks of it.
