Went today to a guitar store with my hd110u for an xlr cable.
Walked out with 7 people PAYING for demo reels.

They saw the camera, wanted to know how much to film a demo reel of them playing, I said for an hour? $150 or so.

Editing included? Get my friend on the phone, he says demo reel for like 20 minutes total right? Yea man tell them $250 total price.

I got 7 PAYMENTS CASH today for $250 a pop.
Filmed the first demo reel.

Filmed the guy really jamming out just a static shot.

Then had him play while camera on his face only or his hands, no camera movement at all.

Friend just finished editing it.
It looks unbelievable. Will post it when I get back Monday.

Just so you know, carry your camera EVERYWHERE, you never know when a woman will need her son's 1 st birthday filmed for a measly $500 or so .

I've experience this too. This is why you need biz cards.

Guitarists and doting parents appear to be willing to part with their cash to make themselves/young children look like gods!
Nice one Dave.

I've also gotten good local actors to work on my short films this way. Instead of paying them nothing, I'll do a demo reel for them.

County of Armagh actually!! Don't come back if you are expecting a great career in video/film!! You sound like you've got it made where u are.

And if add a mod mounted matte box, you can raise your price by 25%. :)
Seriously.

But, what you say is the absolute truth. That's one of the benefits of having a camera that looks like a pro camera. In fact, if you want to meet girls... but that's another topic.
