As you know I have an upcoming shoot for a feature and I was thinking bout updating my HD100 to either 200 or 250. For what I need, mainly film shorts and features do I need to spend the extra money on the 250? I.e. my understanding is the only difference is that the 250 can be used to link cameras.

I will also probably only need the body (no lens) since I am using the Mini35.

What do you think? Obviously if anyone has the answer you are welcome to provide it =)

The mini-35 renders an upright image so you don't need image inversion. Therefore, the main advantage of the 200 or 250 over the 100 or 110 will be 60fps overcrank @ 720P.
There is also a bit more highlight control in the gamma curve, and more levels of black stretch in the 200 series.
The drawbacks right now are white noise from the little cooling fan in the power system and a bit more noise in the image. The latter will likely be fixed with a scene file setting (I'm working on that now) and is especially odd since the new cameras have digital noise reduction.

I say go for the 200 if you are single-camera film style only, and don't ever plan on multi-cam.

However, I really do love the HD-SDI out on the 250. Only one cable to worry about and it is straight digital to your Director's monitor.

Oh boy, the noise makes me worried, but I really have some nice stylized choreographed shoot out scenes that I want to do in slow-mo (60p). My shoot isn't until last week of April so I hope this will be fixed prior to that either by JVC, or as you said in a scene file.

The 250 sounds like what I want. Let's see if I can afford it =)
