Geoff Murrin March 20th, 2007, 07:18 AM The links do not lead to HV-20 samples.
Brad Vaughan March 20th, 2007, 07:42 AM The links do not lead to HV-20 samples.
You need to right click on the links and "save as" to d/load them, then watch them.
Ron Lemming March 20th, 2007, 07:45 AM Looks like the HC1 is more noisy, even in low light. I thought the image quality would differ less in daylight but even then it's like night and day. HV20 = Wow.
Geoff Murrin March 20th, 2007, 08:13 AM I tried to download them to my Macbook but all I get is a blank icon that says
"file does not exist".
Prech Marton March 20th, 2007, 08:30 AM maybe that is because illegal (?) character in URL.
please use only normal chars and numbers in URL,
i also interested in file, but cant download
Mike Horrigan March 20th, 2007, 08:33 AM Boy oh boy oh boy! I can't wait to get this camera!
Thanks for posting the clips!
Cheers,
Mike

Worked for me...
Windows XP
Chris Sorensen March 20th, 2007, 09:31 AM Worked for me on Mac OSX
Peter J Alessandria March 20th, 2007, 09:50 AM The HV20 samples seem a little more contrasty but more definition and a bit less noise. Frankly, both look pretty good for consumer level cameras. I'm assuming there's a way to adjust the image on the HV20 to flatten the gamma a bit?
Kris Galuska March 20th, 2007, 10:09 AM Played with it this morning at B&H.
Wow!
It was way to close to a Sony V1u or Canon A1 fo a $1100 camera.

Prech Marton March 20th, 2007, 10:12 AM i would like to see a hv10 vs hv20 demonstration.
is there any difference in interlaced mode?
the optics and the cmos are the same, right?
(i dont want hdmi, nor mic in)
James Klatt March 20th, 2007, 03:31 PM For all of you OS X users...I found the download only works in FireFox, and not Safari or Explorer. "Save link as"
Lorry Smyth March 20th, 2007, 03:57 PM Fabulous image quality for a sub-$1000 consumer camera!!! Kudos for Canon. I have mine also on its way from B&H a few day from now. Cannot wait! I will be matching it with the Sony DSR-60 external HD recorder for a tapeless solution... let's hope both pieces of hardware talk to each other without problems.
Michael Daul March 20th, 2007, 07:17 PM The hv20 looks great in those clips for sure. Something about the shot of the green leaves from the hc1 looks really wrong. I know I've shot really nice footage of plants with mine, although maybe if I had an hv20 to compare to I'd see the same huge difference...
Nick Laskowski March 21st, 2007, 12:47 AM Thank you very much Jung, I was wondering could you please state the settings of the HV20 that you used in the footage, I would appreciate it as some other footage here that was posted was not close to yours in quality. Thanks
Mike Dulay March 21st, 2007, 07:06 AM Nice! Someone please take some footage at night. I'd like to see just how that 3lux rating measures up. Pretty please with sugar on top!
Ken Ross March 21st, 2007, 02:03 PM What's apparent in many of these clips is the ugly Sony edge enhancement they insist on using. Instead of increasing detail, it actually robs you of detail. Canon footage looks very professional compared to the Sony.
Steve Szudzik March 21st, 2007, 05:38 PM Wow, very nice captures. I'm glad I've got my HV20 on pre-order. Of course, they say it isn't supposed to arrive to me until 4/10 : ( Hopefully they will pleasantly surprise me. I've got the mic, battery and tapes waiting to go and nothing to use them with!

Prech Marton March 22nd, 2007, 12:49 AM When somebody has a HV10 and a HV20 too:
is there any difference in picture quality?
maybe in lowlight, but in outoor, nature filming?

Nice!
How did you get full 1920x1080? Is it upscaled from 1440x1080?
Austin Meyers March 25th, 2007, 12:28 AM my stuff, i'll be uploading more and more to this spot
http://file.meyersproduction.com/hv20/
let me know if yall want any different file types etc...
i've just been shooting 24p thus far, i think tomorrow i'll put the 60i through it's paces.
Cesar Ruiz March 28th, 2007, 06:49 AM Jung,
As someone who has the HC1 and HV20, if you could only keep one, which would you keep?
I'm torn. It seems like the image of the HV20 is at least marginally better, but I like the looks and functionality of the HC1/A1U.
To make matters worse... after reading some reviews, it would seem like the HC3 might be better in low light.
Thanks for your opinion and the opinions of others who have played with both HC1/A1Us and HV20s.

Hey Austin, thanks for your different test clips. I've just watched your steady test. Looks nice, your 'steadycam' seems to work well...though....couldn't you at least put a shirt on??? ;) Just kidding! ;)
Austin Meyers March 28th, 2007, 08:13 AM that's the beauty of working at home, no shirt required.
i posted up some new stuff showing 60i indoors and 24p at a comedy club
hv20 comedy and hv20 handball

Justin Avery March 30th, 2007, 01:06 AM The second last scene of that footage looked fantastic. The clouds, the sun, the colors!
It looks like you've just pushed me past going for the HV10 and onto the HV20.
Keep the clips coming in please.
Jung Kyu March 30th, 2007, 04:50 PM this is film trailer the few outdoor shot looks very much like hv20

that was using the sunset mode. it really amplifies the colors and creates some cool stuff with what was a regular overcast day.
