I have a basic A1 question:

I just got my A1 about six weeks ago and I just returned from Pakistan three weeks ago with 35 hours of 30F material.

I have yet to import anything. Will I need FCP v5.1 to do so? And will i setup a 1080P sequence in FCP 5.1? (vs. 1080i?)

I currently use V5.0 and am still finishing a 60i project which i shot with a FX1

You'll use the 30P HDV preset. The 25P preset works like a charm for 25F editing.

I am on Intel Mac so have only used FCP 5.1.x so am not sure if you'll need to upgrade.

I dont believe that there is a 1080 30p option on 5.0.

Can anyone confirm?

I think you will need the latest upgrade. I did that 40 dollar Universal upgrade from 5.0 last year and got the new discs, installed them, and then downloaded the free ones, I think it was 5.1.2 that provided the 1080P24. I haven't checked 30p yet but I guess it's there too, probably. We're up to 5.1.4 now.
