Hi,

I have a Quicktime Web video that looks fine on the Web on my PowerMac using Internet Explorer, but it's too dark on PC using Internet Explorer. Is there a way to fix this? The video was created using IMovie

Thanks,

Lee

I think the issue is the standard gamma setting on PC's vs Macs. If you go to the monitors control panel on your mac you can click on the "colors" icon and then click "calibrate". If you choose the expert option. It will walk you through a whole process of adjusting the color, white point and gamma for your monitor. You should try this if you haven't already done so, then look at your video again to make sure your own monitor is correctly set. If you're concerned with how the video will look on a PC then you could select the "PC standard" gamma setting and see what the results are.

Boyd is correct. Mac are set-up to a printing default of 1.8 Gamma and the PC is set up to 2.2 Gamma. The PC setting is lighter, thus your program will appear normal on your monitor, but too dark on PC monitors. Follow Boyd's instructions and all should be fine.

Leland, do you have Cleaner? If so, with it you can create two versions of your film, one with the gamma set for Mac and the other set for PC, then also generate the code that will automatically sniff the platform of the viewer and show the appropriate version.
