Dumb question: I have a 72mm circular polarizer I used on my Canon SLR, will that fit the 72mm mount on my FX1? Will there be any 16x9 vs 4x3 aspect issues?

Dave Knife March 12th, 2007, 10:19 PM Thanks for the prompt reply, Spot. Good to hear still and vid are compatible. fldave Boyd Ostroff March 13th, 2007, 07:27 AM I imagine you will be fine unless the filter has a really thick rim. I have an old 72mm Schneider linear polarizer (the kind that rotates) and when you zoom all the way out on the Z1 there is a slight bit of vignetting. But this filter has a pretty deep rim. Just to make sure this isn't happening, point the camera at a light, evenly lit surface and check the full frame image for vignetting using a monitor that underscans or your editing software. Dave Knife March 13th, 2007, 07:29 PM Thanks for the feedback. I'll do some tests this week. I haven't used that polarizer for several years. The next step is to look into using those Canon EF lenses I have...But that's another topic! |
