Hi all,

I'm a new user to Premiere Pro 2 (PP Studio Prem) and am asking for advice on how to export my finished clips / movies. So far, tiny little high quality snippits of raw avi footage (from Canon XHA1) have rendered out to massive multiple hundred mb files... Ontop of this the quality is reduced too...

I'm sure there must be a way of maintaing the quality and lowering the file size... Or isn't there? I've been downloading Quicktime movies of HD footage at only a couple of hundred mb's and the quality is top notch, so I'm sure there must be a way...

Any help would be much appreciated...

What codec are you using for your AVI renders?

My experience is that Premiere's Quicktime render capability is crippled. This may be due to my inability to understand how it works in Premiere, or just that Adobe did not give the latest capabilities because Quicktime wanted a premium for the capability. The best rendering in Premiere to a highly compressed file seems to be in the Windows Media .wmv format, believe it or not. I have able to produce some decent high definition files using that format. If you are stuck on Quicktime, consider Quicktime Pro for about $30 bucks available as an upgrade to the free quicktime player. It will convert .avi to Quicktime format.
