Just received my CF3 diffuser and oscillation control upgrade from Dennis, and begun playing around with it. Lo and behold, what's outside my window, none other than a parking garage off in the distance with about thirty top-notch specular highlights to test bokeh on.

I pull focus to the garage, then from the garage, then adjust aperture to full, then down to f6 on my f1.2 55mm Canon FD.

It was hard to tell, but at certain f stops, does the bokeh ever fade on half the circle... as in this grab (http://fortherecordvideo.com/brevis/bokeh.jpg)?

is that a window screen in the bukah?

Yes I forgot to mention I'm shooting through a window screen which is causing that pattern in the bokeh.

Only when shooting wide open, which I've made a habit never to do (and you should too!) When shooting wide open, light from more extreme angles (i.e. the edges) can't reach the other side of the lens and thus vignettes in the bokeh. When shooting anything under f2 the bokeh is basically uniform.

/Just watched the Lifeguard Ben, nice job. Very funny moments in it. I think the Letus35A held up quite well with the FX1, especially with those Indie Jones night shots.

Ben, glad you got sorted :-) When the sun comes out, you'll have to be a lot more carefull with grain, with CF3 vs CF1. CF3 likes lots of light using a fast lens used fairly wide open, however, using it at night in lit scenes will work extremely well too. You'll figure it out as soon as you do some testing. With this imaging element, you'll see the aperture blade's effect on bokeh as soon as you begin to engage them...and no halation (pet peeve) as you rack.
