I have $4000CAD what Camcorder do you guys think I should get, or should I just save up more and buy what?

The VX2000 has come down in price, mind you, there would be nothing left for accessories.

A few of the big camera stores dropped their list to 4200 C$, That means the places like G&G in Toronto or other discount dealers may come in below $4000. If the camera is shipped in from out of province only the GST is charged.

It's worth a try at any rate. When the list was $5000 , a Sony dealer in calgary was flogging them for $4200 Can. That was Bobby Cross's buddy.

I knew I should have moved to Calgary during the 70's boom!

But it doen't snow and blow and drop to -40. You can have a life in BC

One time when I caught a VIA, from the Peg to Van, the train froze in Calgary for 3 days. It was -42C, yes, for 3 days! So VIA put us up in an inn, a nice one I might add, and on the 3rd day, got us a bus to the airport (the big one), and flew the the ones headed to Van no charge. The rest got bused to their destinations. On the 4th day, I watched the news and found out that Calgary warmed up to +12! Crazy weather in Calgary, I tell you.

So you guys recommend the VX2000 what about canons cameras or other Sony models. I could put some more money into camera I just need something good before my brothers wedding (July19) . I’m going to be using the camera for weddings and other random stuff, maybe even broadcast stuff? So the question is to buy a VX2000 or save up for something even better?

As a wedding cam the VX2k is hard to beat on one level alone - its low light capability. To better this youi've got to spend £5000 and up, and at that price you could have 2 1/2 VX2ks.

The Canon XM2 is a whole stop worse off and the TRV950 a stop and a half. And at full telephoto they're even worse off - the VX2k's big lens means that it's fast at full tele.

The VX2k in this last year of its life is some sort of bargain, and is priced accordingly. It's tried, tested, tough and reliable. In a wedding situation it's hard to ask for more.
