Since the day of getting the HVX I have noticed ever so slight, narrow still (best I can described it ) rainbow like lines running up and down my footage- its the same pattern as bars on a jail cell. I tried to get an example though a frame grab but it did not translate. Has anyone had this problem. Its only noticeable if you really look for it unless the color of the scene is just right.

Shooting tape, 24p DV

The image I attached is an example of where the lines would be(ish) if you could see them in the screen grab.

Is this on the tape or on the camera? If you take your tape and put it in someone else's camera and play it, do you get it? Do you get them while recording? Do you get them when you're not recording?

It could be a lot of things, could be an issue with the chip, with the tape heads, with the equipment you're using to capture, but if it's not coming up when you capture it, then my guess is it's limited to the camera and isn't actually being recorded.

Do you see them on the LCD AND through the viewfinder?

I tested with my Sony Gv-D1000 deck because it has an LCD. I could see the faint lines then and of course on my TM-H1700 production monitor. The HVX200 output to my monitor I can also see them.

Mike, this looks like either a head-alignment issue or even bad/dirty heads. I would suggest sending it into whichever Panasonic service unit you are closest to.
