So I am working with this editor who has a G4 167Gz Powerbook it has an Ati Radeon 6700(?) and he cant even Play the 24f Quicktimes I have given him?
WTF?
They play on my older G4133Gz Pbook with a lesser Ati card
Is it a QT Pro Issue?
Weird.
the QTplayer takes you to a website with useless(for this, it seems) plugins
Also without the latest FCPro it doesn't seem he'll even be able to edit the 24f footage. Is this true or is it restricted to capture..
apologies for the inane questions,
Thanks,
J

Is it a simple codec issue? What format Quicktime are you giving him?

HDV 1080 24p (straight from FinalCut)
I can play it on both a new Macbook pro
And
my older (older than his) Pbook G4 as well...
the only thing my older machine has that he doesn't would be Quicktime Pro
?
Thanks,
J

Nah, it's not a QT Pro thing, but it could very well be a version thing. What version of QT is he running? You running the same? Perhaps it's 6 and 7...

Maybe he's running out of disk space or has half the ram...

He'll need a recent (5.1.2) version of FCP in order to have the right codecs installed. Just having quicktime isn't enough, you need the proper HDV codec.

But I have old FCP 5.0 on my G4 PB 1,33Gz and it still will at least Play in Qt on that...

it all a simple case of...your computer is haunted. how else can we explain this anomaly?
