Marc Jayson February 16th, 2007, 01:31 PM I like the look! Great job.
Benjamin Eckstein February 16th, 2007, 01:56 PM Thomas,
Fantastic. These adapters are such a revolutionary change in the look of HD and it really makes it possible to achieve as close to a film look as we have yet to see in video.
What lenses were you using? I couldn't tell from the setup pics.
Nima Taheri February 16th, 2007, 02:44 PM what was the frame rate on this shoot? And besides the obvious slow-mo shots during the dancing, were any of the rap/sync shots slowed down any?
great look, nice job on the colors, warm backdrops and cold/greenish front.
John Vincent February 16th, 2007, 03:00 PM VERY NICE!
Good stuff, great use of slo-mo and selective depth of field. Keep it up -

Brian Duke February 16th, 2007, 03:50 PM Thomas,
good work. Have you had a chance to project this ona big monitor? and if so, how does the quality look?
Thomas Bruegger February 16th, 2007, 05:07 PM thanks a lot for all the kind words.
We used primes only. 24 / 28 / 35 / 50 / 90 most of the time the nikon ai 50mm f1.4, great lens. we shot with all lenses at 6db gain cause at f2.8 the light would not have been enough and it was lit for 100ASA, so the adapter sucks a hole lot of light.
the slowmos are shot at 60p, the performance shots were shot at 30p with a faster playback. the project is 25fps PAL World.
editing was done in SD on a PAL Monitor, but the final output for CG was in 720p. I did not have the chance to see it on a big screen but on my 1600x960 Monitor it looks damn good. Although working with theese adapters at f 1.4-2.8 sharpnes is very critical.

How much did you speed up the playback for the 30p performance? Also, was the reason for shooting 60p for slow-mo (instead of 50p) to record more frames to get a smoother slowdown? I'm asking since your final product is for the PAL system...and one last question: what was the workflow for the 30p conversion to 25p?
thanks
Thomas Bruegger February 17th, 2007, 01:30 PM >> How much did you speed up the playback for the 30p performance?
i dont recall how much it was exactly i think it was at around 83%, very easy to calculate though.

yes, more frames per second
>> what was the workflow for the 30p conversion to 25p?
capture the clips at 30fps and set the clips framerate to 25fps in the clip-properties in NLE put it on the 25fps timeline, enjoy. In edius that is, dont know it its that simple in FCP and PP.

Djee Smit February 28th, 2007, 04:03 AM looks good.
What do you use as shouldermount (and handgrip) for the handheld shots? It's not the jvc's shoulderpad right?
Thomas Bruegger February 28th, 2007, 06:26 AM its selfmade. piece of wood, some holes in it for the screws, bycicle handlebar for the grips and for shouldercusion some foamplastic from a package. (;-)

Amos Kim April 20th, 2007, 09:03 PM Hi thomas, what kind of mattebox do you have on your camera in the pictures?
Thomas Bruegger April 21st, 2007, 12:38 AM it is an old braun compendium from a super8 camera. i had to modify it a bit and make a rails mount. but it really is very handy since you can adjust it for long or short lenses, im very happy with it. i built a flag now too (;-).
