Just found out today that the 4gb are no longer in production, also seems we have to wait for mid may for the 16gb, as well the 8gb p2 cards are at least in a 6 week back order, so unless you find a dealer who has them on the self, you're out of luck for a little while

B&H still has them.

I actually like working with the 4g cards, they back up nicely on a DVD-R

B&H shows both the 4g and 8g P2 cards available right now.

most sites still show them, but I called several yesterday looking for one, and they explained that they dont actually stock them, when they get orders they order from panasonic, and each one I spoke to called me back telling me panasonic was no longer making the 4gb, and there is a large back order on the 8gb, if bh has them as they and calumet probably do, they stock them, but once their stock of 4gb cards is sold, thats all she wrote, for the new cards.

as far as backing up to dvd, you can break up the files of an 8gb and record to two dvds, just a little more work in the flow.

thank you

Yeah, 8g = extra work... for my setup, 4g cards are great.

maybe you should voice this to panasonic, as they have stopped all production on the 4gbs, if they think there is still a market, they may restart.

I will upgrade when :
1. A project requires it.
2. A simple backup solution emerges.
3. My current P2 cards die.

I am not saying that I will never go more, just for the work I am doing right now, the 4G work fine.
