Hello Everyone,

I am a new xha1 owner, and i have been looking around for a directional mic. The only one that seems to fit into the holder correctly, is the one which comes with the xl1,2, h1 etc. But it does not seem to be for sale anywhere...

Whats up with that?

Where can it be gotten, and what is its model number?

john, it won't work.

first, the xl mic is just a little too big for the a1's mic mount, as is the case with most mic accessories for the xl cams. second, the xl mic has TWO plugs, one standard miniplug for audio, and a second smaller plug to power the mic.

the xl mic is decent but has a cardioid pickup pattern, so i'm guessing it's not really what you're looking for. if you want directionality, get one of the better, less expensive shotguns. good possible options to look at are the audio technica at897, rode ntg1, or the rode videomic.
