I was just wondering if anybody has used or seen the new Red Eye FX wide angle adaptors in action? I am very interested in buying either the .7x or .5x 72mm for my Canon XH-A1, but haven't found any screenshots etc.

I've read a couple of reviews online and they seem to be pretty well received, but has anyone actually had any practical experiences with them?

No responses? I'm considering getting one for an A1 also ...

are there UK suppliers for the Red Eye FX yet? (improved glass for HD)

I have the 0.5 version on my A1 and am very happy with it. There is some distortion at the edges which is to be expected but the sharpness is very good at the center and the weight is awesome for something like a glidecam or merlin.

Have you tried using it with a matte box or the hood? How badly does it vignette?

I haven't tried it with a matte box, as I don't have one large enough. I have tried the stock hood and it vignettes, but not too bad. You can zoom in past the vignetting and still get a noticeably wider shot. The biggest problem is that without the stock hood, you have to be very careful about dust on the lens as everything is noticeable in HD if your anywhere around a light source.

Hope that helps.
