View Full Version : Just got my new XH A1 Chris Ruiz February 8th, 2007, 04:11 PM Just got my new XH A1 :::sigh::: beautiful. I was sold after seeing all the test footage... Chris Ruiz February 8th, 2007, 04:47 PM BTW... is there anything I should know that the manual doesn't tell me... any little tricks? Pete Bauer February 8th, 2007, 05:05 PM Lots of 'em. Way too many for one thread and more added all the time, so dive into this forum and you'll still be learning new things about your camera weeks and months from now. Congrats and enjoy! Noel Evans February 9th, 2007, 12:02 AM Welcome and congrats Chris. You have good taste. Best answer I can give is check the manual controls and user presets. Go from there, shoot shoot and shoot. David Grant February 9th, 2007, 11:19 PM You answered my question too - I get mine next week. Just ordered today. Barlow Elton February 9th, 2007, 11:56 PM BTW... is there anything I should know that the manual doesn't tell me... any little tricks? 1--Turn off the auto gain switch on the side. 2--When you get accustomed with custom settings, set the focus response to slow. Much easier to do repeatable focus pulls with a slow response and the distance readout meter. 3--Change the default low gain switch to -3 dB. It ships with 0 dB as the default. Chris Ruiz February 12th, 2007, 09:42 PM My changes before reading Barlow's report... *auto gain I found out how to turn off... pretty annoying! *-3 gain is MUCH better! I guess there is a group think going on here. I am also hearing things about the standby lock switch auto off thingy... I'm on it. I'll give that slow focus a try. |
