Just got back from a power paragliding event in Salton Sea, CA. Since it's an event video, I decided it'd be best to get a trailer up asap to spark pre-sales.

The clip is Quicktime h264, so you'll need QT7 to watch. Sorry for the others out there...I wanted people to see it in the highest quality I could easily do fast.

There's not too much to divine from the clip other than how well the camera dealt with the harsh contrast ratios out in the desert. I have HVX footage as well from the event...and the difference between the two is greater than I would like or expected. But the HVX still looks very nice when there was natural fill light.

Nate,
Great looking stuff. The images are outstanding.
Loved the music track and the edit pacing kept
the viewer interest.

Hi Nate,

Nice stuff.

What's the cause of the vignetting in some of the takes?

All I know is that I never had any vignetting with my mattebox before this shoot, so I think it was the fact I neglected to look for it with the first 4x4 stage rotated.

Either that, or it slid forward with it's friction fit.

but what are you doing to me, here I was content to get the HD250, and I see stuff like this and think hmm, give me some of that 1/2 inch chip and blue ray disc goodness. But then I come back to reality and the $$$ factor says, not yet : (

ps :By the way Nate, it would be good for you to put this sort of stuff on your demo reel on your website, the music clips are ok, but a little one dimensional...

cheers

Adam,

It may be one-dimensional, but that's the work I was going after, therefore that's the work I show. I'm still very much connected to a world that only cares about what I do with music videos, so that's why that site is the way it is.

When you have a demo reel, usually you target it towards the type of work you're trying to get. Later I will have a reel that's a bit more generalized for the Discovery-type work I'm trying to focus on now.
