I have a couple of questions about this bag if anyone as it.

1) It looks like canon's wideangle converter definitely won't fit in the bag while attached to the A1, but will it fits securely (or at all) into the compartment on the other side of the bag?

2)B&H lists several sizes of this bag. One "for Canon GL2, JVC JY-HD10U, Panasonic AG-DVC15, Sony DSR-PD170 or DSR-PDX10 or Similar Size Camcorders", one "for Panasonic AG DVX-100A or Similar Size Camcorders", and one "for Sony HDV series camcorders". Does anyone know which of these is the best fit for the A1?

Also any other thoughts or opinions on this bag or alternatives are appreciated.

"for Sony HDV series camcorders" is probably the nearest. XH-A1 is certainly bigger than XM2 and VX2100/PD170. Not sure about DVX-100....

I bought the $100 petrol HDV bag from B and H and I LOVE it. It fits my shoulder mount, audio gear and A1 with some room to spare.

The Petrol I got is the PCUB-1. I think there would be enough room room for the camera and wide angle adapter, but you might want to double check the interior dimensions. There are also big side pockets.

I bought this Petrol HDV backpack from B$H ($135) and would recommend it... plenty of room for the A1 plus accessories, but not not too big

I got the Petrol PWR-HDV bag for my A1, the one sized for Sony HDV cams. You're right, you wouldn't want to try putting it in there with the Canon wide angle attached. However, there is plenty of room for it on the opposite side. Just store it on its side, on top of one of the built-in compartments.
It is a nice bag. Mine also has rollers, which are great.

you mentioned you bought the one for $100, is that the Petrol PCCB-1N listed at $99.95? I just wanted to make sure because it uses the word 'compact camcorder' and it says its for the Canon GL which I think is a smaller camcorder.
