Does anyone have information on associations and/or insurers that write policies to cover independent producers?

You got it. They were pretty good to us on our last production.

Truman Van Dyke. 323 883 0012. Kent Hamilton.

Give Kent my regards if you call them. I've done about 6 or so pictures with them varying from $2m down to $100k. They have a special division for super-low budget films.

Also, I think they have a discount if you are a member of Independent feature Project or AARP or something.

Best

Harry.

BE CAREFUL of companies that say they will "co produce" your feature, allowing you to be covered by their production insurance. Keep in mind that only a licenced underwriter can broker an insurance policy. Only the insured listed on the policy is covered. and ONLY the insured listed can sign off on any rental contracts. Usually these "co-producers" will want you to pay X amount of dollars. and you must cover a deductable larger than their plan actually has listed. usually several thousand dollars. This type of co production is not enforceable, and the company writng the policy will not payout on the policy. leaving you at the mercy of the lawyers that the rental company chooses to unleash on you. This scam works as long as nothing is ever lost, stolen, or broken during production.
