View Full Version : Western Digital SATA HD for the Mac Pro? Joe Calalang January 28th, 2007, 10:01 PM Will this work? Anyone have issues with Western Digital HD's in Mac Pros? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822136073 Christopher Witz January 29th, 2007, 03:52 PM I have 4 of them in my macpro... work great. Chuck Spaulding January 30th, 2007, 07:29 PM Although I've only had my Mac Pro for a month, I have three of these drives, two raided together and one standalone and they work great. Lindsay Bruce January 31st, 2007, 07:00 PM Haven't had any issues with mine. We've also got a Dell RAID 5 box at work using 4 x WD SATA II drives and never had a problem. They are a LOT cheaper than Ultra320 drives, but then the U320's usually come with a 5 year warranty... Just one thing - I would never trust software RAID, even on a Mac. Maybe if you're using it for scratch space, but not for storing any project I'd put more than a couple of days work into. Call it paranoia, but I've cleaned up after a couple of failed arrays, and it's a hell of a lot easier to rebuild when it's hardware. |
