I have both Premeire 6.5 and After Effects with a few plug-ins including "Cinelook". Unfortunately I don't have the manuals as I'm using a friends computer while he's out of the country.

Can anyone recommend a few books to teach me how to use these programs to their fullest potentials. I have to edit three 5 minute shorts.

Thanks a bunch,

Rick

For Premiere and AE the Classroom in a Book series from Adobe are good for getting you off the ground. They are by no means the best around, nor do they cover all you need to know, they will however get you going and familiar with the applications

Do you have any suggestions for an intermediate level book for After Effects?

Any of the books by Trish and Chris Meyer are just flat-out awesome. Very practical lessons that show you real-world tricks you can start using immediately, and each one comes with a CD that has free plug-ins, demos and media elements. The CD also has all of the same files and clips used in the lessons, of course, so you can follow along with the book and try things out for yourself. The books feature full color throughout, and are very well written to explain WHY something is done the way it is.

Start with "Creating Motion Graphics" and then get "After Effects in Production." I believe you can order them through the Creative Cow's Dairy Store at a discount.

If you look on the installation cd you should find a PDF file of the manuals you seek
