My A1 that I purchased less than a month ago is not allowing me to manually focus. I called Canon tech support. We went thru all the settings and could not get manual focus to work. The wanted me to send the camera in for repair. I just got it 12/29/2006. I resisted and they suggested that I contact the dealer about it.

I called B&H customer service and after explaining the situation, they agreed to exchange it. They have sent me an RMA.

I just wanted to let everyone know that B&H has always been a primo dealer in my opinion. I have bought many pro items from them beginning in the early 1980's. I highly recommend them for their great customer service.

Just out of curiousity, has anyone else experienced the problem of manual focus ring not working? IF works flawlessly.

John,

I agree with you! In the past few years, our studio has spent well over $100,000 at B&H and we have not been disappointed once. They even accepted a return when the original manufacturer wasn't willing to do so.

Hey John,

I got my A1 less than a month ago and I am having the same problem with the manual focus.. I've only used the camera for a couple quick test recordings so far and I'm sure I remember the manual focus working when I was first playing with it, but now it does nothing..

I guess I'll be talking to canon and sending them my camera.. :(

Brian,

Sorry you're having trouble. I hope your supplier is as good as mine was.
B&H replaced it with no hassle.

Good luck,

John
