I am getting rid of my laptop Celeron 1.5 Acer for a newer model for editing. The 1.5 Celeron is actually a pretty good model, but I want a faster machine - does anyone have experience with the newer Intel or the AMD laptops? I am probably going to try and get Core Duo if I can (under $1000.00).
Thanks

Bhphoto actually has some good PC deals.
My GF actually got a great deal on a nice Acer a while back from them.
Here's one that might fulfill your criteria...

my hp dv2000 series has turion X2 1.6ghz, 1GB ram. not as fast as desktop for sure, but with it does work with premiere pro2, vegas7, etc. i'm still in awe of being able to even edit anything on laptops =D.

you might look into this:

But it's "Dual core" not "Core Duo".

technology is dual-core but intel has marketed that technology as core duo.

I've noticed this distinction between duo core and "dual" core. Can anyone elaborate? pros and cons?

hi brian,
dualcore means there are two CPU's in one physical socket. Core Duo is simply Intel's marketing department branding that technology.

I see huge variations in laptop prices. You can get a dual core intel for $600 or you can get a $4000 alien ware. That's 7x the price. It's unclear what you're getting. a dedicated video card?
