As I have encountered various problems when capturing video in various applications I was wondering if there is no really powerful and thrustworthy video capture program which I can use for video capturing. When I have the files on my computer, I can then edit them with my NLE.

I would like to see both start/stop capturing, capturing the whole tape, scene detection and logging in/out points to batch capture. All these things can be done with regular NLE programs but there is always something with some options and some camera so maybe it is better to look at a specialised program so the NLE is used for editing only.
