Just ready to order when I received the XDCam HD Disk set. Seems I can't do what I wanted to without the addition of a deck.

I was going to shoot 1080 30p at 35Mkps, import proxies into Vegas 7 to do the edit, and then replace them with the HQ clips.

Someone please tell me this can be done without another piece of equipment.

Yes, this workflow is fully supported in Vegas. No problem and you don't need a deck. Your camera can be used as a recorder.

I am going to present exactly this workflow (VEGAS7 + pdw-f330/350) for SONY in germany this coming february on the SONY XDCAM HD Roadshow.

You can import proxies, edit them, replace them by connecting the camcorder (again) automatically.

Once finalized you can also export your master back to a XDCAM HD Disc and archive it this way.
