i'm looking into buying a new shotgun microphone and i am watiching two different ones on ebay.

they are:
the azden sgm-2x
and the rode ntg-1

i can get either one for about $190.

which would any of you suggest? any hands on use with them, negatives, positives...?

i will be doing mostly independent filmmaking.

maybe someone can suggest another microphone in the $200 range.

The RODE, but also look at the Videomic.

If you're doing the online used sales thing, look at our own Classifieds.
I'd recommend virtually any mic besides Azden. AT is good, Rode is good, if you're looking for low-cost shotguns.
