What I'm looking for is just a simple furnished home with power of course. The other "abandoned" building I need is something that would resemble a crack house but with that I know power is an issue.

We are looking for exciting and passionate individuals to help OCT 10-12 in San Diego. The videos are unique, and the subject matter is humorous, so it should be a fun shoot. Moreover, this will be released over the internet and because of the subject matter, it will likely result in significant exposure as well as media coverage. We already have a built in audience of 7000 people, who will see the video as soon as it is posted.

We are looking for
DP and or camera operator with an HVX200 or equivalent (35mm adapter a bonus)
Gaffers
Grips
Camera Assistants
Production Designers
Hair/Make Up Artists
PA's

I don't know if you're still looking but I could perhaps help you out.

I use COLOR and FCS 2. I can also do special effects/ compositing/ green screen, clean-up, etc. with After Effects if needed. I can design and apply (in conjunction with the Director) special looks to footage. I also have Tiffen DFX v2 filters and Magic Bullet for FCP.

I have most recently graded an HD feature film "Clear Lake, WI" (Clear Lake, WI (2008) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1164090) ) and a 2K short film, as well as a music video shot on the RED camera. I can take RED footage edited with proxies and using Crimson, RedCine (in conjunction with an FCP > COLOR roundtrip and transcoding to ProRez.) I can access the original 4K camera files and take it from there (this is important because you don't want to grade the proxy files.)

I have a top-of-the-line Mac system: a Mac Pro Quad Core 3 GHz and a calibrated Broadcast HD monitor. At the end of the day it's extremely important that what you see is what you get. A lot of people don't have properly calibrated HD monitors.

I have color graded commercials, narrative films, documentaries, corporate videos and music videos. I can design and apply (in conjunction with the Director) special looks to your project after grading. I have an array of fancy filters, incl. Tiffen DFX v2 filters and Magic Bullet Looks for FCP and more in After Effects.

If needed, I can also do special effects/ compositing/ green screen, clean-up, etc. with After Effects, such as adding rain, snow and other weather effects.

You can see some color grading examples here:

Don't hesitate to contact me for further info. Thank You. Best regards,

Early next year I may be needing an additional cam for a project. Would like to know if there was any videographers with an EX1 (or EX3) in the Kansas City area.

Or if there was anywhere (anyone) I could rent from.

Thanks!

Hi Nick,

I've had the EX1 since February and just took delivery of the EX3 and am available for hire.
Can you tell me about the project?

I am currently the DP for a hidden camera show, and they are putting together a DVD of their show.

They need extra camera men with the same camera to shoot with me...
we are shooting with HD110's but 200 and 250 is fine...

Its all being shot in 30p hd

Pay is $200 a day per camera man. You should be at ease with hiding behind things and getting into difficult spaces to hide yourself and the camera.

We are shooting Thursday-Sunday in NYC, some locations we have full control over, and others are completely run-and-gun shooting.

Please send an E-mail to Joe@NYFilmStudios.com with your contact info, if you would like to be a part of this....

Its actually really fun to shoot for this, because the gags are very funny, and on top of it all, you get paid!

Contact:
Joe@nyfilmstudios.com
Pay:
$200 per day per cameraman
Location:
New York City
Camera needed:
JVC HDXXX cameras
Days needed:
Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, (possible Monday)
Call times:
Usually 8AM, except for the controlled night shoots.

Stuart Campbell

Just curious Giuseppe but is that a standard daily rate for a cameraman with camera in New York? or is this specifically a 'low budget' thing?

I'd personally say that 200 dollars sounds a bit cheeky when you want the cameraman AND his kit for a day!

You should expect to pay that price alone for just the camera hire in Europe.

Please excuse my ignorance if I obviously have no idea what US rates are. I get very protective over crew rates here as too many companies try their luck with crew and kit knowing that people need the money so will accept lower rates. Apologies if this is not the case, which I'm sure it isn't!

Do you have insurance? - Seriously, not said in jest or are your camermen on their own as stringers?

John Godwin
October 8th, 2008, 07:12 AM
I'll be shooting some scenics in Tucson on 10/13/08, and I need a reasonably experienced grip to help heft and carry, and probably to pickup an extra tripod, some sandbags and a reflector prior to the shoot. Please reply soon as this is obviously right around the corner.

Thanks,
John

I wouldnt mind starting a network of EX1 / 3 users in KC.
Also looking for renting equipment
*as it stands I'd have one more operator than camera*

But I'm looking to shoot a large piano recital and hope to be able to budget three Ex1s, currently have two.

Giuseppe Pugliese
October 8th, 2008, 12:09 PM
This is not a standard rate, this is a "low budget thing" but since it is a steady few days in a row it kind of makes up for itself I believe.

Just to make things clear, I am not running this project, I was just asked to help out to see if there are any more JVC HD camera men who are interested in the gig. I dont believe they have insurance, I believe this is just a quick low budget shoot for the week. All I know is my first check cleared so I know they are legit haha. All detailed questions about the project would be sent to the production manager and she would be able to answer more questions.

So again if you guys are interested, I think for a few days they might even need a 3rd cameraman, so replay if interested.

Hi guys.

I'm looking for a VO artist on the 21st Oct in Bristol Uk (Wildscreen festival). I will be making a 2 minute short doc and the VO has to be done on the day and at the festival. The film will be screened at the festival and may get further exposure by the sponsors.

Many thanks

Stuart you are right on. That's also what I charge for camera hire alone. The economy isn't that bad here yet, but trolling can always pull out a few students and wannabe's , like it or not.

No offense Guiseppe, but Good Luck!

Chris Hurd
October 8th, 2008, 02:11 PM
Moved to Helping Hands.

While the offered rate is probably way too low to attract seasoned professionals, it does seem like a good opportunity for a students or beginners to get some experience and a little pocket change on the side. Good luck,

Marco Wagner

OK I like straight to the point stuff here. I am Directory of Photography/Editor and also work one of the cams onset of a low budget indy feature film. We start shooting toward the middle of October. The shoot schedule is not up yet but it will usually consist of one weekend night and once in a while a weekday evening. Locations are mainly in central to metro phoenix areas. I need someone dependable and eager to learn, sometimes as I do, the process of indy production from the cinematography standpoint.

FACTS:

1.Low budget, however, we have resources, equipment, contacts, and assets that make this a worthwhile experience.
2.No direct pay, however, I will give my assistant points on any money this film makes as a result of distribution or festival prizes etc. I don't get paid unless this film makes money either.
3.Professional and student actors involved. Our main crew is mature, fun, and talented. We have access to some great locations.
4.US and EUROPE festival entry plans.

WHAT YOU WOULD BE DOING:

The same stuff I will be doing :-)

Logging shots and tapes.
Recording camera angles, settings, and focal points
Operating the camera (we currently have 3)
Analyzing storyboards for shots
Some lighting
Other misc. stuff

I am a freelance videographer with my own gear and I'm also a FCP editor with my own suite.

I've just recently moved back to Perth Australia. I was away for a long time and I have lost all my production contact. Would any one be able to point me in the right direction in renting production gears.(cameras, audio, lights.)

I would also like to meet up with any one that is also in the business. If anyone is free for a beer?

I have worked in Europe and the U.S. for the last 3 years. I have also experience in 35mm adapter.

You can email me at davidchiaemail@yahoo.com or call me at 040-8838-231

Thank you very much in advance.

I'm shooting a construction safety training video in the Portland Oregon area in early November/Late October. I'm looking to find a male, late 20's to late 30's clean cut actor that will be the main on screen presence.

Does anyone have recommendations? I'll be coming in from Vegas.

Thanks!

Mr. Hurd,
The post from Guiseppe should have said "Calling all students/beginners with say $5,000 worth of equipment to work in Media Market #1 for McDonalds pay".
That you would support this type of post toward an audience of working professionals who use this site to advance our craft is insulting and really dilutes the crediblilty of this site.

Why are you guys hating on this gentleman's request for cameramen? If I had a JVC and not an A1 (and if I was in NY, not OH) I would jump at this opportunity. I am a full-time Copywriter and Videographer - for a corporation (Salary, benefits, all of it). But nothing is "beneath" me.

$200 is $200 and times are tough. Exactly like Chris said, this is a good opportunity for younger, less experienced people to get some work in, and make a few bucks. Or if an experienced person needs some cash, so be it.

Giuseppe, man, if you ever need an A1, or a shooter in Cleveland, OH - hit me up.

I would be happy to take time off from my other job, waiting tables, but unfortunately I'm on the wrong coast! Now if they were willing to pay per diem on top of daily pay... I AM something of a beginner and would jump at any reasonably viable opportunity.

I am going to be leading some large seminars in Houston, Texas and in Sao Paulo, Brazil. I would like to hire someone to video these events and I would like to have it shot on an EX1 so that I can put the footage right into my Mac Book Pro.

All:

I am currently seeking employment in any industry anywhere in the US or OCONUS. I am based in FL right now, but I am willing to relocate depending on salary/job.

I have 11 years experience, mostly government video. I am comfortable shooting with all kinds of gear in all conditions. I am not afraid to get dirty, carry gear, etc. I am familiar with all major editing and graphics software suites including Adobe, Avid, and Apple products. I can write, direct, shoot, and edit. I am a one man band if needed, but I have no problem with working with others.

I will send resume on request. I look forward to your interest.

Sincerely,

Mike Ferrara

Does anyone know of a place in the San Francisco Bay Area that rents a Letus or other 35mm adapter setup for a Canon XH A1? I'm going to be shooting a short movie and the producer would like to try to use a 35mm film lense.

I wasn't sure where to put this question but there seemed to be a good number of Letus posts in here.

Thanks in advance,

David.

My apologies. I did not see your post until today otherwise I would have certainly steered you towards Location Equipment.

If you have not already, look up ScreenWest - ScreenWest (http://www.screenwest.com.au)

There is a facility for listing your services and CV.

I don't know when you departed WA but to be said, over more recent years, there seems to have been a move away from in-house production by the local TV stations to outsourcing production. My observation, not necessarily accurate is that the stations pared down their in-house production resources and former employees became contractors.

OBs also seem to be sourced out and casual camera operators brought in for studio events like Telethon.

Circling Shark Productions is one which does lifestyle programs.

CM Productions has made cooking and food shows which have sold overseas for some time now.

WA punches well above its weight in documentary production. Prospero Productions is one entity I know of.

Screenwest's resource has most of them listed.

FTI (Film and Television Institute) in Fremantle was probably around when you left. (93351055 if my memory serves).

The Universities have courses for audio-visual media.

My own contacts with them have been quite limited. Ken Kelso and John Reed at Univerisity of Notre Dame, Fremantle Campus media lab. You might remember Ken Kelso as writer of "A Fortunate Life", the story of Albert Facey which was a three-part mini-series. John Reed is also a musician.

Rob Castiglione is a Fremantle resident. You've seen his posts here as a JVC owner. I think he may be thinking of going to the RED.

Steve Rice has the SI2K. He also does casual OB work setting up and camera operating.

Barron Films no longer exists however there is now a new entity derived I understand from much of the original team, Great Western Entertainment.

Bowtell, Clark and Yole were in commercials and advertising when you were here. Marketforce Advertising/Marketforce Productions is another. Edit Solutions, helmed by Bob Glover might be worth a call.

I myself am not an industry professional and am not networked except with a small loose group who help pro-bono on each other's projects. Assistant lensmonkey is about as good as it gets for me.
