I'm also interested. I've shot a couple of weddings using the Canon XHA1 and Sony PD170 in the last year for friends, and they turned out very well. I'll shoot as much as is needed. I live in Somerville NJ. Let me know and we can talk.
Thanks,

Hi
I've just shot my feature film - The Impossible Murder, on HDV 720/25p, in India. There is some special effects work that needs to be done and I can't afford any salary. However, I'm willing to share profits since I intend to sell this film commercially.

There would be compositing work (After Effects, etc), some 3D Animation (in 3D Max or Maya), and anything else you wizards can think of to enhance production values.

Please visit www.theindiefarm.com for further details and reply if this interests you in any way. Thanks!

Thanks guys for the info. I will check with cinequipt first since it is so close. And if I dont have any luck im sending my business to Texas! I definitely agree that it makes sense to rent first. Ive flown just a glidecam so far. I really want to full affect of the vest and "real" steadicam arm.

We are a small, busy independent production company working on broadcast and high end corporate productions looking for;

1: Reliable, experienced professional camera operators located or willing to work in Northern Germany for several forthcoming projects.
Experience in shooting on Digi Beta and other 2/3" eng cameras would be helpful as well as competence in HDV camera operation.

2: Reliable, location assistants and runners. Will receive training in Camera Operation and Editing. Should ideally be local to Hannover.

German and English speaking is a must although fluency is not essential.

Please send me a private mail with your CV.

Many thanks.

Does anyone in the DFW area (that's Dallas area folks) have a SD switcher for rent or loan? I need it for a 2 hour job 6/23/08, sending signal to a couple of big screens.

Sorry, can't use the Videonics MX-1. Thanks -David

I rented from this place - I used this one for a month. The company is owned by my brother-in-law, so I am somewhat biased, of course.

Formation Films seeks an ambitious Script Supervisor to join a dedicated team of filmmakers working together for shared-ownership to make a feature film using the latest digital tools and a screenplay with proven market value.

“SOLITARY” SYNOPSIS:

A woman is trapped in her home by irrational fears. When her husband suddenly vanishes, she must confront her fears to solve the mystery of his disappearance. With the help of a psychiatrist and her estranged sister, she begins to suspect an elaborate conspiracy to drive her insane. She ultimately discovers that nothing is what it seems and the final truth behind her “agoraphobic” fear shatters her reality with an unforgettable twist ending.

The shoot begins Late Summer 2008 (weekends only) in Los Angeles and will be non-union. The project is very low budget, structured as a co-op deal, where every contributing member shares in film revenue. Please check out the project website, www.solitarymovie.com, and the company website, www.formationfilms.com. I’d be happy to send you a script and discuss the project further.

Hey all

I am new member here. I've spent a while searching the forums and reading various topics. But this is the first time I've actually posted something. I know it's rude for a stranger like me to ask for favors, but if it's quick and easy for someone to help me out then this won't be too much to ask.

I am putting together my director's/editor's reel and I did some short term AC work on this season's "Nashville Star" show (now airing Monday nights on NBC). I want to obtain the opening title graphic to incorporate into my reel and I do not have the means to grab it off the TV. My VCR is broken, and I don't have a way to record a TV stream on my laptop.

If anyone is able to grab the opener, compress it to a MOV file and email/upload to me I would be very grateful. Let me know if it's possible, and we can discuss further via email.

If this is a lot to ask, then perhaps someone could suggest how I might go about getting the opener.

All the best

Thomas

Looking for a composer that can score the short film “Shoot”. It's a 20 minute comedy/drama about a guy named Dave Deforest fighting to continue his dream career in photography.

Composer must be available June 17th-22nd for scoring the film (not constantly, but daily replying to e-mails). This is a student production, therefore the only compensation I can offer is credit + a high quality internet download of the movie.

Please e-mail us if interested at: salil@salsunproductions.com with subject "COMPOSER-"Shoot" June 2008"

PS: Having an AIM or MSN screen name I could communicate on with you is a big plus.

If you worked on the show, can't you ask the production company for it? That way you would get the highest quality possible (someone grabbing it for you may look rather cheap and not help your cause) and you would be on safe ground as far as copyright goes.

Just found out my client wants a 2 camera shoot for her wedding on the 19th of July. The event is in the Warren/Youngstown Ohio area. As this just came up, all of my colleagues who I would usually call upon are booked already.

I would require a person who has their own equipment, preferably HD if possible. The final product will be a widescreen DVD but I like to acquire in HD anyway for more options down the road. I shoot with a Canon H1 and a Canon HV20 for a wide balcony shot to cut away to if the other cameras goof up. This is basically a "c" roll camera! :)

This 2nd camera person should be skilled enough to cover wide to medium shots handheld and on a tripod. I will handle all the closeups and creative shots. I don't expect the handheld shots to be "Steadicam" perfect but no nauseating fast pans and shakes. I need this camera to fall back on when I get too creative and blow focus on a critical shot or accidentally bump the "pause" button in the middle of the ceremony.

Anyone in the Ohio area interested shoot me an email through my profile and I'll let you know the pay. It's pretty standard fare for a 2nd cam in the area.

This would be for both the wedding "and" the reception.

Thanks for any replies in advance.

Marty

To the best of my knowledge, it's a non-profit business. The money they make from films/television that show the sign, they spend it maintaining the sign.

Hi there. I'm looking for a seasoned DP who can "paint with light" and is familiar with the jvc hd100 and hdv codec. I'm looking for someone who can not only light a scene realistically but artistically and expressively depending on mood and atmosphere of the given scene. I have a short film I want to shoot on the hd100 and need to find a quality DP. Send me your webpage or link to your reel. Thanks!

if you need to "paint" with light, there is an easy solution that allows to put light of any color and shape, exactly where you want without lots equipment.
find a good video projector (preferably HD to avoid the screen door effect) and connect it to a laptop.
using the video projector mounter on tripod (for example) you can light precisely object by drawing colored shapes on a paint program (use the full screen mode to get rid of the menus and palettes).
you can find very cheap lcd projector (or DLP, better) with resolution of 800x600 for less then 400$.
with a laptop and a matrox triple head box, you can have as much as 3 projector on a laptop.
obviously you can not set all the light for a stage only with such device (use regular lighting to get ambien light level) , but to give an additional color touch or play with very precise light spot, it is an easy solution.
you will spare on lots of lamps, tripods , cable, filters and so on and get a setup time reduced to almost nothing.

It turns out that the wedding and reception are in Solon and Beechwood Ohio....so this is more of a "Cleveland" area event and not Youngstown Warren area.

Thanks.

I need four cameras / ops for a concert shoot in Hermosa Beach on June 29. We have been shooting with HVX200 but need over 2 hours of coverage from 4 cams so I've decided to go with HDV 1080 on tape. I'm not familiar with Sony cams but I believe it is the Z1U that does what I need, unless models have changed and there is a better model (?). Advice appreciated.

We can pay $300 for approx 4 hours of shooting.

You should have a good fluid tripod and experience with television or concert shooting. Send a resume and/or link to footage to contact tdsurf@yahoo.com

Hello!

My name is Erez Henya and I'm an ambitious film composer collaborating with filmmakers internationally. I love doing what I do and I give all my heart to it with a bold passion.

I also give a great importance to the pleasure of collaborating. There's nothing like working with new friends, not just filmmakers, that you feel open and cool with. Great ideas come from both sides pretty easily this way, and the communication (a key component in any film production) is clear, many times also predictable.

I would love to see you at www.erezhenya.com, and hear what you, personally, have to say about my music, and how you think I can execute your artistic vision to this great upcoming film of yours!

That's it, everything's there! now I wanna see you at www.erezhenya.com, if you dare!

I'm looking for shooters in the Louisville, Kentucky area. I would prefer a female shooter with some experience that can shoot bridal preps alone while I set up for the ceremony, however a male shooter would be good too. In any case, I'm looking to start training someone as early as a July 11th wedding. If you know of anyone looking for some part time weekend work like that, I would appreciate it if you would send them my way.

I'm flying out to do an interview shoot in early August and need to rent the following:

Black backdrop with stands. Prefer 20' width but less might do.

Possibly needs some lights.

Anyone here rent stuff or know of a good place to rent?

Brandon Freeman
July 2nd, 2008, 12:14 PM
Hello, my name is Brandon Freeman. I'm a fairly uneducated, learn-as-I-go-through-trial-and-error composer. I'm an independent filmmaker, and my favorite part of the process is writing the music to my films. So, I'm a creature of necessity, learning how to overcome the obstacles that stand in my way as they present themselves. I'm not perhaps the best at foresight, but learning under pressure is how I do it best.

I'm interested in collaborating on short films (around 10 minutes) for free, provided I like the film.

I'm also interested in collaborating on feature films, but due to the involvement required, would need some kind of reimbursement/service trade.

I compose my work in Finale 2008. Listen to my growing portfolio at http://www.showcaseyourmusic.com/brandonfreeman.

My e-mail is hallewoode@gmail.com.
