Salil Sundresh March 13th, 2008, 07:46 PM Seeking rap/gangster rap with lyrics for about 30 seconds in a student video on "What does it mean to be 'MONEY SMART'?" This is for my consumer education class, if we win, it will be recognized at the D203 Money Smart Week Student Seminar on 4/21/08 and also posted on www.salsunproductions.com. As per the rules, any audio or visual materials that we use besides the ones we have created must be in public domain. We would only need about a 20-30 second clip of heavy rap/gangster rap. Please, no particularly offensive lyrics. If you know of any sites that might have it or have some yourself or can quickly compose/perform some, please e-mail me at salil@salsunproductions.com with subject "RAP PUBLIC DOMAIN MUSIC"
The purpose of this music is to establish a stereotype for a character, so it's just a certain mood we're trying to convey, no specific lyrics required.
COMPENSATION: Internet download of finished video
CONTACT: salil@salsunproductions.com with subject "RAP PUBLIC DOMAIN MUSIC"
PS: If you cannot attach a file for some reason, please use senduit.com
Salil Sundresh March 14th, 2008, 05:38 PM Looking for a composer that can compose an approximate tune that is similar to the first 15 seconds of Cobra Starship - "Snakes on A Plane (Bring It)" for a parody. This is for a student production, in which copyrighted material cannot be used, any audio or visual material not originally created by us needs to be in public domain. So you would need to put the clip you compose in public domain.
Check out the music video to hear what I'm talking about (only need the first 15-20 seconds) :
http://youtube.com/watch?v=XV24FN4rDzE
The only compensation we can offer is a high quality internet download of the completed project.
If interested, please contact me at salil@salsunproductions.com
Salil Sundresh March 14th, 2008, 07:37 PM Please note, by 1-2 weeks...I don't mean all day every day. Just stay in contact pretty much on a daily basis or every other day via e-mail.
Nate Weaver March 14th, 2008, 08:53 PM I've had luck getting good VO guys to spend 20 minutes doing various reads of material for a trailer...
But I doubt any person who does this for a living is going to want to spend 10 days on and off without serious compensation. Especially since a lot of those guys have complicated daily schedules, doing reads for multiple news shows dailty, etc etc.
I personally would prepare 3 times more copy than you need, ask for 3-4-5 reads, and offer $100 for 20 minutes of their time. These guys are used to working fast.
Then again you might get lucky and find somebody that will help you 2 weeks for free...but I doubt it.

Salil Sundresh March 19th, 2008, 11:46 AM Attention voice over talent and actors: We are approaching a critical deadline, and a few of our actors have bailed on us at the last minute. We need your voice over recording by 4PM CDT on March 22nd. Please send them in .MP3 format. (if you need a way to send large files, try senduit.com ) E-mail salil@salsunproductions.com
For your lines, please download the script here:
http://senduit.com/c78d84
To begin recording your voice over, please view the video clip we are trying to record voices for:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HwPMgIWUsgM
If the YouTube version above does not work, you can also download it in the original .wmv format here:
http://www.salsunproductions.com/misc/Audio Isolation Source Footage.wmv
Please note: You are NOT trying to match the lip movements of the characters, simply do your best to match the lengths of time your character(s) is roughly speaking on screen.
Just a reminder: this is a student project, therefore the only compensation, as advertised, will be an internet download of the finished dub. We will also keep your information on file for potential future projects.
PS: If you think you can do more than one role, we highly encourage recording multiple parts because we aren't sure if all our actors will come through at such short notice.
Martin Pauly March 19th, 2008, 12:16 PM Z1U in Cedar Rapids, about a four hour drive from Chicago. Would that be close enough?

Bill Spearman March 21st, 2008, 03:36 PM Salil
I sent you an email earlier today - I am certainly not a professional but have done some amateur work. Let me know if you still need help & I will try to assist. Good luck.
Bill
Salil Sundresh March 25th, 2008, 12:11 AM I am directing a 3-4 minute cheesy educational video on "what does it mean to be money smart" - somewhat of a spoof on this. I will need your voice over no later than March 26th at 5PM CDT. I cannot provide the edited video in time for you to view while reading your lines, so be sure to do your best to make it sound like you are trying to teach high school students what "the good way" of doing things is and what they should definitely stay away from. Again, it's a ridiculously cheesy spoof on educational videos that tell you to put ridiculous amounts of money away for savings, etc. YOU MUST PUT YOUR VOICE OVER RECORDING FOR THIS PROJECT INTO PUBLIC DOMAIN UPON SUBMITTING IT TO US. As per requirements of the project, any audio or visual materials not originally created by me must be in public domain. Because this is a student project, the only compensation I can offer is a high quality internet download of the completed video. Please go right ahead and get started if you are interested...
You may download the lines for the voice over here (your character = "VOICE:"):
http://senduit.com/d48320
Please e-mail all voice overs to salil@salsunproductions.com by 5PM CDT on March 26th
.MP3 format preferred.
Use senduit.com if you need to send large attachments.

Paul Mailath March 25th, 2008, 08:06 PM Our group logo is below
I'd love to find a way to animate this but It occurs to me that what will take me a year might be pretty easy for someone who actually knows what they're doing.
Any bored 3D animators out there who might be interested in helping us out?
www.justshorts.info
Giroud Francois March 25th, 2008, 11:12 PM toonboom allows you to build a 3D avatar and animate it in real time, including lipsync from a microphone.
The product is very expensive and does not include any tools to create the puppet (usually made in 3Dstudio), but some companies offers this as service, so the cost could be affordable.
This is mainly a realtime presentation product for events, but all the screen can be recorded, so you can use it at will to do a quick and dirty animation on the fly, with no knowledge about 3D. you just use the program as a puppet.
you can even dowload a free demo with some prededigned characters (the dino is really great !)
Salil Sundresh March 26th, 2008, 05:12 PM Okay, I've extended the deadline. PLEASE, ANYONE TONIGHT THAT CAN DO A VOICE OVER CONTACT ME ASAP!!!! (wed, march 26)

I'd suggest something Pythonesque, 3D/CG would be a stretch for that logo. What would you like to see it "do"? Jumping jacks? The old soft-shoe?
Giroud Francois March 27th, 2008, 02:36 PM sorry it is not toonboom , but toonMx i was refering to.
Jeroen Wolf March 30th, 2008, 06:33 AM Hi Guys,
I have a client who needs a couple of sit down interviews(basic lighting, one mic) shot in Paris, France and Huizen, Holland. The shoots would be very straight forward, and only take a couple of hours.
So far the quotes he has received have been in the 2000 euro range, which seems very high, but what do I know.
Wouldn't have to be XDCam HD, but it would be great if it was.
The client is a long time customer of mine, knowledgeable and great to work for.
Any help appreciated.
Peter
Hi Peter,
Still looking for someone in Holland? I am based in Amsterdam and shoot with the Z1. Send me a pm if you're interested.

Or, if you have either of these 2 items and Adobe Premiere Pro, we would be willing to pay for you to capture. Please let me know what you would ask for compensation.
Philip Gioja April 5th, 2008, 08:16 PM you should contact Ben Lynn - he's been a part of this forum for a long time. He currently has one - he's near me in Illinois, but I bet he'd help you out. He's shooting the Final Four right now, but I think he has some time off in a week or two.

Chris Soucy April 6th, 2008, 01:01 AM You're leaving it a bit late in the day for us wimpish Westerners to be hauling ass around Kerala aren't you?
April/ May, gonna be steamier than a sauna.
Great place to shoot tho, if you can see what you're doing through sweat obscured bi - focals!
Thinking about it.
Er, hang on a bloody minute - it's April already!
Please tell me it's a typo and you really mean Nov/ Dec/ Jan later this year.
I take it transport To/ From India is off the menu? (Who am I kidding with that one?)
CS
PS. Like the accent. Oxford or Cambridge? (No offense intended)
Hmm, even my befuddled brain has figured out I can't free up in that time frame, guess that's a reluctant "No" then. Bugger.
Next time, give me a bit more warning!
Intrigued, but not terminally so, as to why you don't just take a mob from Mumbai?
Salil Sundresh April 6th, 2008, 02:01 AM Looking for a composer that can score a short comedy film entitled "To Be Airborne". The director is looking for calm, but playful sitcom-like music.

I would LIKE to shoot in May. Locations are done, equipment is ready. I have a few short-listed people who want to be part of the crew. But I'm having trouble finding a reliable DP - someone who believes in the project and be crazy enough to make it work. Actually I'm willing to push back production by a few weeks just for the core crew. The ad is an old one I posted in Mandy a few weeks ago...sorry didn't notice that we are already well into prep!
About the heat: I guess working with silks is the way to go! Right now I'm looking for actors, and am traveling to Mumbai to look for that mob!

Hey want to be part of a great no-budget project in India? You pay to go there, and pay for all the food. Also can you be there 5 days ago?
Sorry about the dates...I'm willing to push dates around to get the perfect crew. It was copied and pasted from an ad I'd pasted in mandy a few weeks ago.
BTW, I'll pay for the food! :)
