I deleted the wrong folders when I moved them from my iMac to my external drive. Is there a program that can find them without changing the name or extension? I tried using File Savage and it turned the files to a .dv format and changed their names so it makes it hard to find anything. On top of that, the quality was horrible.
Thanks.

You say you moved them to an external drive? If so, just move them back to the iMac.

What I meant to say is, I deleted files prior to making the move to my new external drive to clean up. In the process, I accidentally deleted FCP files that contained one of my projects as they were named "untitiled..." (I did not think they were important since I had named everything else).
So now I need to find a way to retrieve them with their correct names so I can reconnect them to FCP and the rest of my project. I hope someone can offer a suggestion (not File Salvage).
Thanks a lot!

Sorry if this is an obvious question, but did you empty the trash after deleting? If not then you will find them there. Otherwise, you might be out of luck unfortunately. Norton Utilities used to have an undelete feature, but you needed to install the software in advance and not sure if it would be compatible with the new machines.

I did this too. There is no remedy. I tried everything and asked everywhere.
If you've emptied your trash SX will have erased the files pretty quickly while it goes about all it's little background household chores. It has no mercy.
Sorry.
