Should I order these? Anyone had issues with RAM not ordered with Apple's customized workstations?

For my G5 I ordered memory from newegg and have no issues. RAM is RAM is RAM... as long as you get the same type (DDR2, PC5200, etc) that you have now you won't have any issues at all.

I tend to recommend name brand RAM instead of generic. Bad RAM is always one of the lamest things to troubleshoot and waste time on. Go for the big names like Cruicial and Lifetime Memory. Here is a video I slapped together on youtube that shows how to install memory in the MacPro http://youtube.com/watch?v=OHzvn5D1d4Y

Several suppliers, such as Crucial, datamem.com, transintl.com, etc. carry "Apple Approved" memory upgrades. I've had no problems with Crucial in the past, or with DMS most recently with my Mac Pro Xeon. Do a search here and over at LAFCPUG and you'll find many responses. There is little reason, other than peace of mind, to pay the full freight from Apple.

I like anything from Kingston, I have had crucial, muskin and a ton of name brand RAM go bad, and never had an issue with kingstons stuff

I was hoping Crucial's prices would be cheaper than Apple's but they're about the same. I decided to check newegg.com and found that for $309, I can get 2gb of RAM as opposed to the 1gb from Apple or Crucial.

Thanks for the video! I'll definitely look back on this for reference!
