I shot some video using in 16:9 with my Pdx10, and then captured the footage on the same setting in Premiere 6.5. Exporting the finished video to video maintains the 16:9 ratio, but when I try to export for windows media, it crunches it down to 4:3. Is there something I'm missing in export, or is it not possible to export a .wmv to 16:9?

I've had issues like this with premiere using a GL1 and its "fake" 16:9. i would always export to an AVI and then use WMEncoder and manually select the crop settings. seemed to work for me.

Try setting your resolution to 320x172. This should give you the correct frame.

In win media there are two possibilities to encode in 16x9:

option 1.
Chose under "compression/general": "Alow non-square pixel output" and under video size "same as profile" or 16x9", depending on yr actual input size. Choose under compression/speed for instance: 360x288

option 2.
Uncheck: "Alow non-square pixel output"
and chose under "compression/speed" the video size 16x9
for instance 512x288

Win Media claims that under "processing/options", choosing not to Deinterlace gives better results as deinterlacing. ( when the output size is less off the half of the original). Read the helpfile for this matter.

My experience is that choosing square pixels and a video output 16x9 gives better results as choosing non-square pixels!

Play a bit with the other settings suiting your connection speed.
