I'm guessing I can post outside links for the sake of answering your post, so here it goes :::
[moderator] please refer to the TOS regarding outside links. Additionally, there is a sticky with comparision chart at the head of the FX7/V1U discussion.

Comparison of FX1 and Z1U (remove the space before : )

http://www.hdvinfo.net/articles/sonyhdrfx1/compare.php

---
Quick differences:

FX1 - unbalanced audio (mini-plug only), no black stretch, 72mm lens diameter, 1/3"-CCD, 12x zoom.......

V1U - balanced audio (XLR), 62mm lens diameter, 1/4"-CMOS, 20x zoom.....

If it was up to me and to swap the FX7 for the V1U, I would simply because of the zoom and audio - XLR is vital for what I do so there wouldn't be an issue for me; I currently use Z1U's and V1U's.

V1 will have XLR input for XLR Mics. FX doesn't.

V1 will shoot 24p and 30p, as well as 60i, FX only 60i

V1 will have 20x zoom, FX1 12x.

V1 has 3 cmos chip 1/4, FX1 has 3 ccds, 1/3 inch.

Hi Juan and welcome to DVinfo. Please don't post the same question in more than one forum, it is a violation of our policy. I've merged both threads together here.

There are a lot of differences between the two cameras. The V1 is smaller and the CMOS sensors perform differently from CCD's. Another big difference is the V1 comes from Sony's professional division which offers a higher level of service if you ever have a problem.

Rather than trying to summarize everything in one thread, spend a little time reading through our FX7/V1 forum for extensive discussion.
