Jonathan Nelson January 19th, 2008, 12:57 AM I am selling one of my three HD100's to help expense for a smaller handycam style camera. The one I am selling has only 93 drum hours and absolutely no signs of wear. It's basically been in a case for most of it's life because we rarely need a third camera. The lens has zero scratches and all of it's accessories are in top notch condition. It was bought brand new last year so it has the (A) upgrade that allows it to interface with a DR-HD100. It also has the latest firmware.
Also included:
An Anton bauer battery system which consists of one Dionic 90 battery, Titan 70 charger, and battery plate. The Dionic 90 battery will provide around 4-6 hours of power. The Titan 70 charger is brand new (factory sealed in original packaging). This is everything you need to power the HD100.
Everything included:
1. JVC HD100u camcorder (includes body, viewfinder, microphone, and earpiece)
2. 16x Fujinon HD lens w/ lens hood & caps
3. HD100 battery charger
4. HD100 Battery
5. HD100 screws and mount cap(protect it when lens is removed)
6. Hd100 Instruction Manual
7. Fujinon lens Manual
8. HD100 Original Box and packaging
9. Anton Bauer Titan 70 Charger (brand new)
10. Anton Bauer Dionic 90 Battery
11. Anton Bauer battery plate for JVC HD100
12. Instructions for Anton Bauer system
I am asking $3500.00 O.B.O
It will be shipped in it's original packaging.

This is a fantastic manual with a built in servo motor you can engage if you want to zoom via your camera rocker or LANC controller.
It sells for $1,300 plus shipping at B&H.

Hey, fellow The Colony person. Ironically enough, I have an XL-2 and live in The Colony, but it's not for sale. I happen to know for a fact though, that there are a lot of people who sell their XL-2's in North Texas through craigslist. I don't think there are any up right now, but I see some every month. Go to this link and check it out:

Matt Martin January 20th, 2008, 09:20 PM I have two (2) 20 foot extension cables for the PT-20 camera turret in excellent condition available for $70 each. I used these cables for two weeks, but then we reorganized our multi-cam setup and we no longer need these 2 extension cables. I paid about $100 each for these cables, and they work very well.
Please let me know if you are interested in one or both of the extension cables. I am in East Palo Alto, CA, and will ship within one business day of receiving payment. I accept Paypal and the buyer will pay for shipping. Please contact me if you have any questions - I can also send you a picture of the extension cable if you are interested - thanks,
Matt Martin

I have a new and unused Powerbag Junior for sale. An extra one was ordered by mistake. It powers the Focus Enhancements hard drives for various cameras for 9 hours. They won't take it back because I have mislaid the power supply/wall wart.
I am in LA.

HI, and thanx. yeah, I've seen a few on there, but I haven't looked lately, but thanx for reminding me...AND teasing me, lol. I've also perused eBay a bit, but you really need to watch who you buy from on there. Heck, with the prices they have, I might as well buy from B&H and save the S&H costs. Which I probably will do, if I don't find anyone with a considerably lower amount. I had seen another ad here in the classifieds from a member selling an XL2, and he even gave his eBay nic to verify...which I'm glad I did, lol. He had quite a few negative remarks, that convinced me NOT to buy from this guy.
I've had nothing but good service in the past, when I have used B&H to buy my still photog stuff. Plus, I like that fact that I save $$ on the S&H!
BUT...I am still in the market, and probably will be fora at least another 10 days or so.
Thanks again!

Jad Meouchy January 21st, 2008, 11:53 AM NOTE! The tripod head is actually a DV8-100, NOT a DV8-100SB. The SB model has more counterbalance settings (12 as opposed to 5). Otherwise, the heads appear to be the same. I didn't realize they had released a new model, sorry about the error.

Joe Desmond January 21st, 2008, 02:11 PM Hello.
I'm in need of an affordable transfer to Digibeta or BetaSP from hard drive. This is in regard to my student film, which I came to these forums for advice and help for a year or so ago (when I started shooting, I was 17).
I am in the San Francisco Bay Area (San Jose, CA).
I'm hoping to get an affordable deal as many of the big houses (names withheld) are asking for an upwards of $500-600+ which I don't feel is right (correct me if you disagree).
More info on the film as well as stills @ http://www.hdehal.com/oceania
I thank you in advance!
Richard Alvarez January 21st, 2008, 02:45 PM What format is it in on a your hard drive? As to whether or not their charge is too high, well it's too high for you, but if they can get it, they can charge it.
"Transfer" from hard drive to tape, can mean a lot of things.
Why not rent a deck for a day?
Joe Desmond January 21st, 2008, 02:49 PM It is an uncompressed AVI (about 70 gigs).
I edited it on Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 (don't cringe too much).
In regard to renting a deck, I'm totally open to that except (a) I've never transferred anything, ever, except hard drive to MiniDV, and that's trivial and (b) I couldn't find anything but a DVCAM deck and I'd prefer to use something of highr quality (betasp or digibeta)
e.g.: I don't know how to transfer to Digibeta or BetaSP on a deck (or even how to use a deck).
Any advice?
Mike Meyerson January 21st, 2008, 02:59 PM IMO, you're not going to notice a difference with betaSP over DVCAM...so if $$ is a big concern, just go with that. If you REALLY want the highest possible quality, that would be Digibeta.
I always like to stick with digital formats when transferring something that's already digital...betaSP is analog.

I'm still looking for a place that can do it for a decent price (more worried about quality)...
And you're right about BetaSP (that was one of my worries)...
I should have mentioned that this is for a festival screening (at Cinequest San Jose).
Thanks guys, please keep the advice coming!
Joe Desmond January 21st, 2008, 03:10 PM I'm reading that it's almost exactly the same as MiniDV, SAVE for the higher quality of tape (pertinent to physical wear and tear).
So since i shot on the XL-2 and everything was limited by the MiniDV compression, theoretically the highest quality image I could output can only be output by a MiniDV tape (or in this case, a DVCAM tape as well?)
Is that correct?
If it is, wouldn't getting my footage transferred to Digibeta (or now reluctantly to BetaSP) which offer high quality resolution and image be a waste since my footage couldn't fill that in and make use of that extra "space?"
Mike Meyerson January 21st, 2008, 03:12 PM That price really isn't too bad if they're going to do digibeta. To rent a digibeta deck you'd spend $400-500/day.
It's probably not a straight transfer because the .AVI will have to be imported back into an editing system for output (at least that's how I would do it on my Avid), so they're probably charging you for edit time as well.
Did you make any kind of master after the edit or did you just put it on the hard drive?

No master.
Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0, as far as I know, doesn't allow re-recordning of 24pA footage in 16x9 (only 4x3)... So I don't have a master per se but I have a 4x3 backup on MiniDV. The reason I want to go off this AVI is because it is indeed uncompressed, audio and video alike, and that it's the only true "master" I have (and it's in its natural 16x9 state).

yes, that is correct...I'd just go DVCAM. It's better for mastering than mini-dv...it records at a higher speed so there's less chance for drop-outs. You would have an advantage with digi-beta if you were going to be using it for duplication....the image would probably hold up better.

Awesome, thanks. I'm glad to finally have been convinced as to choosing one format.
Now all that is left is how I should go about this. Any dub houses that you guys recommend? Or would it be possible for me to do this myself at home (I have my editing PC, Premiere Pro 2.0, and a firewire card--basically the barebones minimal... I also have a Linux partition if there is some AV software recommended there, though I doubt that).
So what should I do? Where could I get a better quality job for the best price?
Know of any good independent or small/quality dub houses or editors?
(P.S. I've been calling places in Southern California like Lightning Dubs and Santa Monica Video and even left a message with Technicolor, but most places are just as expensive as previously aforementioned).
Richard Alvarez January 21st, 2008, 03:34 PM What format does the festival require/allow?
You could rent a DVcam deck, like a dsr11 and simply print to tape, no? Not familiar with Premiere. But any deck the festival plays it on, is going to read the tape as 60i anyway. Seems like you might want to burn a DVD if they accept that for submission?

Cinequest San Jose allows:
DVCAM, DIGIBETA, BETASP, or HDCAM (or 35mm film :))
They don't accept DVDs unfortunately.
Richard Alvarez January 21st, 2008, 03:41 PM So yeah, just rent a DSR11 if you can, buy a DVCam Tape and do a 'print to tape' function from the timeline. Again, not familiar with PP, as I edit on Avid. Alternately, you MIGHT could go back out to the XL2, and then DUB from the XL2 to a DVCAM deck or camera...

I'm more and more open to renting.
Hope this isn't nitpicking but for those of you with festival experience, will I need to worry about "bars/tone, slate, and countdown with 2-pop on" and "black for x seconds" and whatnot?
And I've been told that there needs to be colour correction and fixing certaint things and artifacts in the video and making sure the tape recorded "properly" ... Is there a such thing or are they pulling my leg?
I see that Adolf Gassers has
Sony DSR-80 DVCAM (Play/Rec) (QSDI) for $150
Sony DSR-30 DVCAM (Play/Rec) (Jog Wheel) for $125
Sony DSR-20 DVCAM (Play/Rec) for $80
and Avista rentals (any good?) has a Sony DSR-11 for $99
Any other places to rent from? Which should I pick (are the ones at Gassers better than the DSR-11?).
AND DVCAM is only 41 minutes? (My footage is 55 minutes at most)!!??
