I shot a little test with the XH-A1 set to record DV instead of HDV. Looks to me that the picture is not as good as an XL2.

I shot some test scenes in a studio setting with professional lighting and was pleased with the DV result. The shots from outdoors in full sunlight looked soft and smeared.
