Hey Jay, XL H1???, I'm green with envy. Had the chance however to compare one side by side with Sony's FX1 and was surprised at how much better a picture the Canon has. Good for you man.
BTW do you find it to be front heavy after a while of working with it?...

yeah this camera is sweet, I do find it to be very front heavy. That was my first impression when I held it. I'm so use to slinging my DVX 100a around..lol. That Camera is quite new to me I have a lot to learn.

Hi Jay,
i just registered two minutes ago. I'm looking for the correct doubler/scaler to link my recently checked over Canon 45 to my Acer AL 1716 LCD monitor. A stand alone box that shows me what I have, only doubled to fit the screen. This camera is used for table-top camera design set-ups on I beams and home-made steady/move equipment for a 'robotic' feedback guitar video short.
I'll settle for VGA input of monitor and composite from camera.

Hello,

Proud resident of central New Jersey USA. The unwritten rule is that you have to be born here in order to make jokes about the state lol. But seriously this is a great place for filming just because the array of landscapes, climates and cities within a 50 mile radius is really stunning. Want to practice making surfing films? Head over to the Atlantic Ocean and the miles of beaches. Need an urban environment? Go north towards Jersey City, Newark and Orange. Need farmland? Hunterdon county. Wait you need a massive forest to roam around in? Pine Barrens to the rescue (but be careful, the Pineys can be weird at times). All in all, this is a great state to get in a lot of practice shooting on a limited budget. If there are any other NJ shooters out there, make yourself heard!

Careful now, I resemble that remark! I live out in the woods near Mays Landing, which is maybe 20 miles Southwest of Atlantic City.

Welcome Christopher, there are a number of fellow New Jerseyans at DVinfo. I think you're right about the state, there's quite a diversity of landscapes and people here; it never ceases to amaze me. Just recently I was exploring New Jersey's "Western Shore" which is the area along Delaware Bay. There are some really interesting little towns there which time seems to have passed by, and some spectacular views. I'll bet most people don't even realize it exists.

Here are a few threads from others in NJ:

No you're fine :) I meant the ones waaaaaay deep in the Pine Barrens. My friend was delivering bales of hay to a farm down there when he got a flat tire. People came out of the trees throwing things at his truck and screaming to get lost. Weird.

I've never been to the western shore although many fishermen tell me its nice out there. I think I'll have to start taking exits I never stop at and just seeing what I find as I get further and further off the beaten path.

Chris,

Welcome. You're definitely NOT alone here. I'm in Essex Cty, and have relatives in Somerset Cty. When not working from home, my spouse often works in Somerset Cty. Lived in Jersey my entire life, and in my youth I lived in Bskg Rdge for almost 2 yrs after moving out of Monmouth Cty.

Do you work full time at this? If you ever find yourself in need of help, post in "Helping Hands" if you do. There are plenty of folks here from Jersey.

Hey Charles:

I love Freehold. Next door to the Freehold Raceway Mall is the best Sam's Club ever. It's the only place I can get my Laird's 12 Year Old Rare Apple Brandy and Small Batch Bourbon Collection for the best price.

Yup. Freehold's the place.

Hugh,

Bad news. The Sams club has closed down. Good news. They relocated, out of the mall complex, west on 537 about 2 miles. Being owned by Wall Mart they built a small campus consisting of the new Sams Club and a huge new Wall Mart.

Being freelance I would take my daughter to run around in the old Sams Club when I wasn’t working. She could not stop moving for the first 2.5 years of her life.

We now run around the new Sams with her new sister.

We will have to go to a park some day.

No! Forget the boring old park! Continue to expose your kids to the joys of responsible shopping! I wish I had a Sam's Club when I was a wee lad instead of some boring old park! :-)

Check out their wines and spirits section. Awesome!

I do work in a TV station based in NY/NJ, part of Network in the hispanic market.
My job title is called: Master Control Operator / Technical,

My duties are:

Monitors, maintains and controls the outgoing signal and computer program that drives the air servers (Louth Automation).

Switches programming, counts in and out of live events.

Tape operator supporting the master control operator (MCO), loads required program and spot tapes into tape machines or servers for on-air playback. Cross-checks identifying slates of programs with the MCO.

Performs duplication, compilation, and transfers for general company and client use.

Robotic Camera Operator.

On my spare time I do work on my own, I have a small business http://videoideas.tv
There I perfom several things, have 3 people working with me (freelancers) we produce an post produce local spots for radio and tv, DVD authoring and internet solutions.

I personally own equiptment, cameras, FlowCam GT from Varizoom (started learning how to use), vtr's, audio gear, etc.

I'm doing this business for about 18 years and I love it!, I started back in 1988 using the SONY CCD-V220 8mn tape format and the Videonics, hehehe.

Production and post is my hobby and work too, in the summer time I still do social events videos, and the equipment pays for it, I personally think that I need more time to play with my stuff and make more money with it!

Hey I'm a freelancer as well. I'm based in Ventnor City, just south of Atlantic City. I see there are a few in the immediate area. This is a great site. Almost forgot to mention my camera. I have an XL2 and I just picked up a XHA1.

Hello everyone!
I bought my XL-2 about 5 months ago, and i've only used it twice, and i was shooting in easy recording mode both times, i'm looking to learn as much as i can about this camera and was wondering if anyone here knew of any clubs in new jersey where owners get together and collaborate on projects? if not i'd like to start one! i don't have any projects to speak of but i'd like to help anyone that might need a second camera angle for whatever they're shooting,i'm currently taking digital editing classes and i'm working with a Mac G-4, so if your in the tri-state area and are interested let me know!
i've shot some footage and posted it on youtube i'll include the links at the end of this thread, i'd just like to learn how to use all the shooting modes and how to work with wireless mics and in different lighting situations, any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank You!
SCOTT
