Can I hook up the HV10 to my PC monitor to watch the playback footage? It would be nice to watch it without having to capture it 1st sometimes.
I have a 22" Widescreen so I would love to just hook it up for quick viewing if possible. My Monitor has three inputs:
DVI (used for PC),
Analog (not used),
and HDMI (not used..really wish the HV10 had an HDMI connection).

There are other (cheaper) VGA-Component adapters, but I think they mostly go the other way... VGA out to component... not sure if the YPrPb HD component analog signal specs would be supported as a valid resolution etc by most VGA-input PC monitors?
eg also not sure if the 22"ws LCD would handle the 1920x1080i resolution... most are 1650x1080...

do you mean to bypass the PC completely and just use the monitor?
If you just want to view without capturing using your PC I would recomend using VLC by videolan as you can stream directly through firewire without capturing and still use the various deinterlacing options - bob/blend/linear (my fave!) etc the PQ is no different to capturing the video.

I tend to capture most of my stuff only because I dont want to use the tape mechansim more than I need to if I will be viewing the same footage over and over but its great just to sit back and watch a tape from beginning to end without wasting an hour capturing it!

Hey Bruce,
I bought the VGA adapter, but it wouldn't fit on my monitor. It was a tad too big and was hitting my DVI connection so I couldn't get it flush enough to connect.
So I use the VLC player to view the footage thru my FireWire on the fly. It works great.
Fergus really made my day yesterday, however because of him and his great advice...I stayed up way too late last night playing with VLC and my footage! :)
