I shoot on the HD100 in 720/24P and I know it works with Liquid for editing, but I have concerns when it comes to dvd burning inside the program.

When I edit on Mac, I use FCP or Xpress Pro then encode through Compressor to a Native 16x9 MPEG-2 file that encodes great in DVD-Studio Pro. The Widescreen file gets flagged on every DVD player correctly and letterboxes on 4x3 sets and doesn't on Native 16x9 sets.

I was wondering if Liquid can burn a Native 16x9 DVD in this same fashion?

Yes it can make a 16:9 NTSC DVD right out of the app.
In fact, it probably works a little faster because Liquid uses Main Profile MPEG 2 as its base editing codec vs. QT/DVCPro (FCP), or OMF/MXF (Xpress Pro).
However Liquid is a PC only app., and you mentioned that you edit on a MAC.

I know it is and have been looking for a good overall Windows solution that is cheep. The Avid Studio Toolkit looks like a great addition but it will run me $1000 versus Liquid which will only be $149 since I get an academic discount.

Liquid 7 sells for under $100 at www.Studica.com, using an educational discount. This is the best deal on a PC. Those on a Mac still have to pay around $699 for a Final Cut Studio 5.1 bundle, and can never upgrade. This is a no-brainer.

If you own a copy of Pinnacle Studio, how about a $299 upgrade?
