View Full Version : Light for the Merlin & VX2100 Richard Zlamany December 6th, 2006, 04:08 PM Hello, I'm looking to use a on cam light with the Merlin and the vx2100. Does anyone have any good suggestions? Nick Tsamandanis December 6th, 2006, 06:38 PM I've just ordered the Obie 2 Light. Will let you know what I think of it soon. Richard Zlamany December 7th, 2006, 12:21 AM where did you buy it from? I just purchased this light: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=2025&A=details&Q=&sku=410736&is=REG&addedTroughType=categoryNavigation I'll let you know how it fairs with the merlin. Nick Tsamandanis December 7th, 2006, 05:36 AM I bought mine from Lemac Sydney, Australia. Nick Tsamandanis December 22nd, 2006, 06:20 AM Playing around with the Obie light. Weight-wise the Merlin works just fine with the Sony FX1 and the lightest Sony battery. The Obie is extremely light, even with the 2 batterys. It's not going to light a barn however. For fairly close shots (2-3 feet) on faces it just manages just to get a zebra pattern set at 12 db gain - exactly what I need it for. I had to re-calibrate the Merlin once I put the light on and I think I'll just leave it on permanantly. Richard Zlamany January 18th, 2007, 08:53 PM Well, the light is not so good but it helps a little. I doubt I will ever use it. |
