Was just going to purchase a UV filter to protect my lens from any nastyness...

has anyone had an experience with this set..

Stick,

I simply went down to Wolf Camera and got a multi-coated UV filter there for $29. I haven't seen any image degradation from using it either. There is one instance though, that I did a shot out of focus on purpose and when I viewed it back on my monitor I could easily see small specs of dust on the lens. I'm not sure if that would happen without the filter. If so, I've never experienced that before.
