Is there one out yet for this camera(HV10)?

Ikelite has one, http://www.ikelite.com

and Seatool, http://seatoolusa.com/ also has one in development.

Both prototypes were shown at DEMA 2006

Ikelite products are available at BH Photo.

The Seatool HV10 case is very small. Too bad it costs more than buying another HDV camcorder with an Ikelite as well.

LOL, $2,499.00, um. Yeah. Well, I suppose it is machined from a solid block of aluminum.

But the Seatool enclosure is very neat indeed. Almost small enough to use as an everyday case if I were shooting by the ocean all the time. Not to mention it being made of solid aluminum.

Underwater conditions frequently fool camcorder auto modes. Don't underestimate the importance of access to manual controls.


For example, manual white balance. Shoot some footage indoors, with lower lighting. Not dark, but not bright. Record in auto and then with manual white balance set on a white object. Most likely you will see a very noticeable improvement when white balance was manually set.

I think the Sony housing is only rated to a few feet...

i have the sony housing, and for what i've done with it, it works great, especially for the cost (got mine for about $100) it's rated to 17' and for control i use the remote in a bag.

I think the SPL is pretty limited on depth too.

Guess it depends on what your intentions are. Underwater a few feet for snorkeling and the like ? Or undewater as in scuba ?

The Ikelite and Seatool are designed for scuba depths, have more controls and therefore more expensive.

does the sony housing even work with the HV10? seems like people are using it with the HV20:
