For those of us planning on buying the full SI2K (the Mini), I request we recieve Software Copies of SiliconDVR that can run on external notebooks (just like the Mini SI2K).

This is to remove the restrictions of working with the Embedded WINXP enviroment in situations where we need additional software functionallity.

For instance we might need to run Color Calibration software like Cinespace in the background e.t.c.
Thanks.

This could be possible....but not free. Each copy of SiliconDVR incude 3rd-party software licences and are keyed to specific machines.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but... is the SI2K the same camera as the Mini? I am interested in getting the bigger (boxy) camera, if that is the case, what is the name of this version. Thank you.

SI-2K is the full camera with embedded Core 2 recording systems (aka DVR). The 2K-MINI, or MINI for short, is the removable front end of the SI-2K.

The intent is not to enable install of additional 3rd party applications which may effect the perfromance or reliablity of the system. Use a separate notebook to create your looks and bring them to the camera using USB Thumb or HDD.

Yes. There is a mechanism for transfering a licenses from one machine to another.
