I think you may need to be specific on what you mean by plastic. Plastic sheeting? transparent plastic? What sort of plastic and how big/much?

Rich, what kind of plastic you need?
I assume you want to make a support for dof adaptor? If so your plastic should be machineable and regular ABS or PVC won`t do. Other plastics like polymers or copolymers are quite pricey. 20mm thick square metre would cost something like $250.
I quess you`ll be better off with Cavision`s new adaptor holder (http://www.cavision.com/rods/lenssupport.htm) if that should be the case...

A very tough plastic is High Density PolyEthylene. It can probably be machined if you are careful to use a method that does not melt the plastic back to itself. You may need to use something like a router to cut it so the pieces will fling away instead of meshing back together and rejoining.

It is probably sold in a few places, but I know onlinemetals.com carries it in sections up to 1" thick. It is not as large as a full sheet of plywood, but then the shipping would be very expensive. You could also try looking for plastics suppliers in your local area.

At onlinemetals.com it is called UHMW (UltraHighMolecularWeight).

I think plexiglass might do the trick.

What plexiglass for GG? It would need to be some thick stuff because that stuff is really bendy and you will get a lot of Z axis movement. However the thicker you get the more problems you will get with heavy lightloss.

laugh, god no. it's for rail support. I'm going to build something in the next week. I have it drawn out and seeing how I don't have plastic I have to probably use plexi glass. almost the same. it's really thick also. so it won't brake.

Plexiglass for rail support? Over hear in the UK plexiglass is transparent sheeting like glass sheeting. Im interested in seeing you you use it for your rail support, maybe see a drawing. If you can show me a drawing I maybe able to recommed a suitable material that is easy to obtain.

I used 10mm phenolic board for a Letus onto rods modification. The holes need to be drilled from both faces on a common pilot hole or drilled whilst clamped to a piece of waste hardwood, otherwise the burst-out face tends to feather away at the edge.
