Hi, I'm hours away from ordering my NLE suite and for £10 difference I can have either 2 x 19" 4:3 High end DVI TFT monitors or 2 x 19" widescreen analogue TFT monitors 1440 x 900 res?

I'm a bit confused as to what to get! My graphics card has 2 x DVI outputs.

Anyone out there experienced in editing on Vegas 7 have an opinion on this? What would you do or prefer, whats better to edit with?

I eagerly await your opinions!

p.s I'm new to this forum, but already I'm finding it a superb community of extremely knowledgable people! Thanks for all the info so far!

I'm wrestling with this, myself. I have a standard SVGA monitor and widescreen 20 inch flat screen LCD DVI monitor. I usually run my Program monitor in PP2 on the LCD. It show bright and beatiful, but does not give me the true view of what things will look like on a standard TV. IF I drag the the preview window over to my standard monitor, I will get a better idea.

do you not have any problems dragging windows across two different screen resolutions?

It's getting kind of confusing with all the new technology implemented in computer monitors. Just last night I stopped at a computer store to look for a new monitor - mother-in-law from overseas stays with us for a longer while and wants to keep in touch with family back in Europe. I got an older PC for her but the 14 inch monitor is pityful so here's my chance to give her my 19 inch CRT and buy an LCD for myself... please DO ask me if I love my mother-in-law!

As I understand, both DVI/HDMI and any flavor of VGA will only transfer digital computer graphics to the monitor; if you want to see what your video will look like on a real TV monitor, you need either a real TV monitor, or a computer monitor with analogue, either component or S-VHS inputs in addition to the digital inputs. Problem is, monitors with analog inputs start around $400 while VGA+HDMI monitors are down in the $200 price range for 19-20 inches.

Unless the sales rep misled me...
