I've already decided to go for the V1 rather than XHA-A1, but am still studying and comparing both manual pdf's. I noticed that while Canon uses the term "priority" (for shutter, aperture etc), Sony don't use it at all. Am I right in understanding that the same goals can be achieved with the Sony by choosing a value from the menu (eg. the shutter speed), while putting the cam into "Hold" rather than manual mode? This should keep the selected value constant, why allowing the other settings to be adjusted by the camcorder. The same with the "priority" - when eg. shutter priority is selected on the Canon, the shutter is kept constant at whatever value was selected, with the other settings adjusted automatically.

Am i right or wrong?

What you are describing is correct as it relates to my older Sony cameras. Put it in HOLD and then select a shutter and/or an aperture.

If you have a link to the V1 manual I'd love to give it a preview.

Sorry guys - I was typing in the middle of the night - I'm buying the V1, but of course studying the manual for the FX7 (and Z1). Thanks for replies.
