I have been racking my brain trying to pick an interior mic, and an exterior mic.
So far I have picked:
Interior: Rode NT3
Exterior: Rode NTG2
Are these decent choices? I'm not looking for top of the line. Just "decent" at least

I just recieved my NTG2 yesterday. It is amazing outside and inside as well. Maybe buy the NTG2 at first, and see if it suits both applications, and if it doesn't, pickup the other one. If you want a good deal on it, check out the user "MusiciansAdvocate" on eBay. You can haggle the price down a little bit, and save some money.

I just bought a NTG2 from a sponsor. We'll see how that goes.

The NT3 is OK if you don't have to hold it with a boom.
If you are booming, the choices from botttom to top are an oktava MC102 with hyper capsule, Audio Technica AT4053a and a Schoeps cmc641.

What makes the NT3 not ideal with a boom?

I use the NT3 indoors on a stand, powered phantom from a Mackie mixer. The last project I recorded this way included someone eating a pickle. With the NT3 eight feet away the crunching of the pickle sounded clear and distinct.
