Sorry if this isn't in the right place.

I'm reading that eventually 1080p60 will become the norm for video and broadcast.

Will this be a truly global standard or will Europe, Austrlia etc. still have a different framerate (i.e. 1060p50)?

.... or where should I ask this question?

Thanks!

There might be 1080p50 and 60 formats, I think you might want to research HDMI 1.3 to find out. Also remember that the AC frequencies are different in different countries, it is 50Hz in Europe and 60Hz in North America.

Thanks Jack.

I hunted around HDMI 1.3 and founds lots about colour depth but nothing about supported framerates. I suspect it will support all of them but the question is what will actually be taken up by the PAL-zone broadcasters.

Why would the AC frequency have an effect on the adopted frame rate?

By the way all this is to help me to decide whether to build a stock library in 50i or 60i using my Sony Z1.
