Hello all...
I have an HDR-FX1 and I really love the cam.
But it is big and bulky for what I do.
I am going to use the hdr-fx1 on a tripod and get a new cam to shoot my personal stuff.
What is the most comparable SMALLER cam in quality to the hdr-fx1?
THANKS!

If you *only* need quality of video at 1920x1080, don't care how the camera looks to other's watching you shoot, and don't need audio, take a look at the Canon HV10. It looks like a toy, but it's CMOS sensor is sharper than the FX1/Z1U.
I just wrapped on a 40 minute film shot with the Z1U/FX1 cameras, and, seeing footage from the HV10 makes me cringe! lol.. it's nice. Do some tests first - I don't know it compares to the FX1 when doing pans, motion, etc.
That said, I don't think the FX1 is that bulky at all.. maybe for undercover stuff, sure. That's a case the HV10 would shine for sure - it's really really small.
No audio line in, which is why I said it's a camera you can use if you don't need good audio.

New Sony V1 will be smaller- about size of PD 170. Smaller yet is the Sony A1u, and finally the Sony HC3
