I have agreed to do a shoot this weekend for 4 basketball games, a 3-point contest and a slam dunk contest. Sounds like a fun day and i think the 3 contests will be easy but with the games i'm not so sure. They only want 2 cameras there. Any suggestions with how I should be places. I was thinking of having one camera get the wide angle of the games and the other one getting closer shots.. All help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Do you have a high position? i.e. in the bleachers? That's where the wide angle should be. If you watch professional sports broadcasts the wide angle, however, still follows the action so you should try and get someone actually handling the top angle camera. Too bad you don't have three cameras as you could then have one on each basket aiming down the court from either end.

I would synch both cameras at the start, and run one covering a back and forth wide angle shot, with the other doing close-ups.
Then cut the close-up cam over the wide angle in post and voila!More or less...

It is a shame you don't have 3 cams... I would have one one each end of the court, opposite corners, and one in the middle, up high, for a wide angle full court shot.
